Amherst, New Hampshire — LaBelle Winery is thrilled to announce the release of its new Méthode Champenoise wines, marking the first time the winery has crafted sparkling wines using this traditional French method. These wines were created by winemakers Amy LaBelle, co-owner and co-founder of LaBelle Winery, and Melaney Shepard, former winemaker at the Biltmore Estate Winery in Asheville, North Carolina, and a skilled Méthode Champenoise wine producer.

“We’re incredibly excited to introduce our Méthode Champenoise wines to our customers. This collection represents the pinnacle of our winemaking craftsmanship and our dedication to creating exceptional wines that enliven the senses.
”

– Amy LaBelle

Méthode Champenoise, which originated in France’s Champagne region, is a labor-intensive process in which a mixture of sugar and yeast is added to a base wine before the wine is bottled and undergoes its secondary fermentation, creating natural carbonation. Unlike sparkling wines that are artificially carbonated, Méthode Champenoise wines undergo a longer aging process, resulting in more complex flavors and finer, more persistent bubbles. The technique produces sparkling wines of exceptional quality and depth.

LaBelle’s Méthode Champenoise collection includes three wines showcasing a blend of grape varietals:
  • LaBelle Winery Rosé: Crafted from baco noir grapes, this sparkling rosé has a refreshing acidity. Its flavor is reminiscent of strawberries, raspberries, honeysuckle and wildflowers.
  • LaBelle Winery Demi-Sec: Made with seyval blanc grapes, this full-bodied sparkling wine has a creamy texture, nutty vanilla aromas and bright citrus flavors, offering a luxurious drinking experience.
  • LaBelle Winery Brut: Made with chardonnay grapes, this dry, delicate sparkling wine has notes of green apple, citrus and ripe pear, offering a crisp, elegant finish.

“Crafting these sparkling wines using the traditional method has been an incredible journey that required attention, skill, patience and dedication. Each bottle represents our hard work and commitment to preserving the meticulous art of winemaking in this style.”

-Melaney Shepard

LaBelle’s Méthode Champenoise wines are available exclusively at LaBelle’s Derry and Amherst locations. The wines retail for $65 per bottle. Bottles signed by the winemakers are available for $99 each. Wooden gift boxes for the wines, which provide an elegant presentation option for special occasions, are $25 each.
