Amherst, New Hampshire — Amy Labelle, a lifestyle expert and the co-owner of Labelle Winery, in Amherst and Derry, New Hampshire, recently appeared in live broadcasts on two popular television networks to talk about the Day of the Dead and share traditional Day of the Dead recipes.

The hosts of WPIX-TV’s PIX-11 New York Living, Marysol Castro and Chris Cimino, invited LaBelle to participate in their Day of the Dead food segment.

WDAF-TV, Fox 4 in Kansas City featured LaBelle in a similar segment, where she discussed the Day of the Dead holiday and shared traditional recipes.

On both television shows, LaBelle demonstrated the best way to present traditional Day of the Dead foods as part of an ofrenda, a display that honors deceased loved ones. Day of the Dead food and beverage recipes are often passed down from generation to generation.

LaBelle noted that Day of the Dead is not only a time to remember the dead, but also to celebrate life. The holiday is a time to come together with family and friends and enjoy good food and drink.

During her appearance on WDAF-TV, Amy talked about her personal connection with the holiday. “I’m lucky enough to have married into a Latino family,” LaBelle said.

“For 18 years now, I’ve been learning about many beautiful traditions and holidays, which we incorporate into our celebrations at LaBelle Winery and at home. I love all of the traditional dishes that are served during Dia De Los Muertos.”
For the television segments, LaBelle prepared green pozole with hominy; empanadas; guacamole; fresh salsa; Mexican hot chocolate; mole sauce made with red wine; baked churros; and homemade tortillas. LaBelle also introduced a product from her The Winemaker’s Kitchen line of culinary products: Ahi Colombian Hot Sauce. The recipe for the sauce comes from her husband’s family who are originally from Colombia.

LaBelle’s television segments were well-received by viewers. She received several requests for the Day of the Dead recipes she shared, which can be found on her website, amylabelle.com.

“I’m a winemaker by trade; that’s what I love to do,” LaBelle said. “I love to pair food with wines, and combine flavors to make the maximum impact on your palate. It was a joy to share our family’s story with viewers, and to be able to bring a little piece of Mexico to the table for the holiday.

In addition to LaBelle’s television appearances, LaBelle Winery was mentioned by US magazine’s lifestyle expert, Christin Luista, as part of an article featuring the most popular celebrity getaway destinations.
